Content Library Cleanup Tool SCCM

Content Library Cleanup Tool SCCM

Since SCCM 1702 a tool has been available to delete content on distribution points which is no longer associated with any package/application. The tool is available in the following location:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\cd.latest\SMSSetup\Tools\ContentLibraryCleanup\ContentLibraryCleanup.exe

The tool can only be ran against 1 distribution point at a time and can be ran in two modes:

What if – What if mode allows you to identify which files would be deleted without actually deleting the files. This is used for informational purposes.

Delete – Delete mode will delete the files which the tool decides are orphaned (not associated with a package or application)

Running the tool in What if Mode

From either the Primary site server or the Distribution point, Open a command prompt with an account which has full administrator rights to SCCM.

Run the following commands

“cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\cd.latest\SMSSetup\Tools\ContentLibraryCleanup”

ContentLibraryCleanup.exe /DP DPNAME

Running the tool in Delete Mode

From either the Primary site server or the Distribution point, Open a command prompt with an account which has full administrator rights to SCCM.

Run the following commands

“cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\cd.latest\SMSSetup\Tools\ContentLibraryCleanup”

ContentLibraryCleanup.exe /DP DPNAME /Delete

NOTE: You can also use the /q switch to run in quiet mode (stops prompts to delete files)
